Beginnings are times of great peril and possibility. Whether you are starting down a real road or a virtual one, potholes lie in wait just as do happy surprises. Should we give in to our fears and avoid starting new projects, or journeys, or relationships? Of course not. So how do we best face our fears, and take that leap of faith?

It will be different for different people, but for me I tend to see the possibilities more than the perils. I'm not fearful so much as excited. I'm willing to take the risk. Perhaps that comes from being a commercial whitewater river guide, although one could easily argue that I have cause and effect exactly backwards.

In the end, it doesn't really matter how I've come to this place, it only matters what I do with it. Either this site will help you, or it won't. Let me know either way, but particularly if it doesn't. I really do want it to be a place that can help us all bring libraries into the 21st century as vital, effective organizations.
